Lumphini Park
This is the biggest park located in the center of business area and bordered
by Rama IV Road, Sarasin Road and Witthayu Road. The park is popular among
city dwellers who come to jog and practise Chinese Tai Chi. The artificial
lake in the center is perfect for paddling. Musical shows are sometimes
held in this spacious park.
:: Chatuchak Park
Situated next to the better known Chatuchak Weekend Market on Phahonyothin
Road, Chatuchak Park is a nicely landscaped park and is considered the
major park of Bangkok. This is a nice spot for relaxing after an exhausting
shopping at the market.
King Rama IX Royal Park
The 200-acre park on Si Nakharin Road commemorates His Majesty King Rama
IXs 60th birthday in 1987. It comprises extensive botanical gardens,
and a building displaying the works and life of King Rama IX. Admission
fee is 10 baht.

Saranrom Park
It is an old park, originally a garden in the Saranrom Palace. It is not
a big park but its perfect location makes it a good spot for relaxing
after a visit to the Grand Palace and Wat Pho. An old European style fountain
faces the main gate. There are also some monuments including the memorial
of Queen Sunantha Kumarirat who is King Rama Vs beloved consort.

Benchasiri Park
Located next to Emporium Shopping Center on Sukhumvit Road, the park was
established to honor Her Majesty the Queens 60th birthday. It is
a small but well kept and beautifully designed park.

Safari World
This is located at Km.9, Ram Indra Road, Minburi. The area of 170 acres
is divided into 2 parts : the Safari Park and the Marine Park. The Safari
Park has a large variety of wildlife in natural habitat. Visitors can
drive their own cars, or have a look from Safari Worlds coach. In
the Marine Park, visitors can enjoy performances of well-trained animals
like dolphins, birds, seals, and monkeys. Open daily from 9.00 a.m.-5.00
p.m.
:: Dusit Zoo
was formerly a part of the Royal Dusit Garden Palace, called Khao Din
Wana, which was set up by King Rama V as his private botanical garden.
In 1938, the Royal Thai government under Field Marshal P. Pibunsongkhram,
then prime minister, asked the King for the land to set up the zoo for
the public. King Rama VIII granted the land and the government appointed
the Bangkok Municipality to the build the zoo in March 1938. The zoo was
turned over to the Zoological Park Organization of Thailand in 1954.

1. Bring people in contact with animals for educational and recreational
purposes.
2. Reasonability in the welfare, caring and breeding of animals to prevent
extinction.
3. Ensure the animals' quarters are as comfortable as their natural habitat.
4. Produce a zoo environment which serves truly as place of recreation
and relaxation.
