Bangkok Golf - Golf Course in Bangkok
One of the older Bangkok course Krungthep Kreetha is a very pretty layout
which has recently undergone a total rebuild. There are several hidden
water hazards and numerous OBs on the course. Trees alongside nearly every
fairway call for accurate tee shots. The greens, many of which are elevated,
are among the truest in Thailand. A pleasant new clubhouse has been opened
and the food and service are as good as ever.
The
Jack Nicklaus designed course here measures 7,126 yards from the "tiger''
tees and provides a tough test for all classes of player. Huge lakes come
into play on almost half the holes and at the sixteenth players have to
hit their approach to an island green. Putting surfaces are good, but
most of the greens are well guarded by deep bunkers. The palatial clubhouse
has several restaurants and function rooms.
Navatanee is Thailand's first golf course designed by a foreign architect.
The course was created especially for the 1975 World Cup and has since
become a golfing Mecca for first time visitors to the country. Navatanee
offers a tranquil retreat full of mature trees and beautiful shrubs. The
greens are well protected by bunkers and there is a mix of wide and narrow
fairways, with water coming into play on five holes. The par four sixth
hole and the par five ninth hole across the lake are among the best in
the country. The clubhouse facilities are excellent.

Conveniently located just north of the city, this 27 hole design is extensively
landscaped, with water coming into play often. The par three holes are
perhaps the most testing aspect of this course and on four occasions the
player has to hit his tee shot over water. There are also some very testing
dog-leg holes on each of the three nines. The course is floodlit for night
golfing and the clubhouse facilities are of a very high standard.
Ronald Fream also designed Panya's second Bangkok course on a slightly
sloping piece of land. He has made another of this park like courses.
Water comes into play on almost every hole and therefore accuracy, rather
than power play is called for on this rather short layout. As at Panya
Indra, the Clubhouse facilities are first-class.

Stretching 7,140 yards off the "tiger" tees, the course here
is designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. Fairways are wide, but undulating
and offer a variety of lies, with no blind approaches to the superb greens.
Water runs along almost every fairway, so accuracy is paramount. The par
threes are tricky as most of them require long water carries to greens
guarded by deep bunkers. The new North course is also very demanding as
it too has water running along almost every fairway. The opening hole
is a foretaste of what is to come in that great accuracy is required to
avoid the fairway and greenside bunkers. The huge clubhouse caters to
all the golfer' s whims and accommodations (on site are also available).

Water surrounds the entire golf course and part of the clubhouse building.
As with its sister course at Krisda City Golf Hills, Robert MCFarland
has created a very interesting layout, the highlight of which is undoubtedly
the long par-four ninth and the par-five eighteenth. At both holes players
have to negotiate a huge lake which overlooks the clubhouse. The approach
shot at the 7th and 10th holes has to be played to an island green. Holes
one, two, three and the finish to the ninth are all played on a separate
island.
Rajpruek Club is the golf course with 18 holes developed as North Park
project and operated as a membership golf course in Bangkok. It takes
only 20 minutes from the center of Bangkok by car. The 18 holes with a
beautiful scenery are in a good assignment of water hazards and bunkers.
The golf course offers an exciting challenge in a picturesque course.
The new course of Royal Thai Army G.C. is located next to the old course.
Compared with the old course, the course layout and the yardage of the
holes are a little bit poor in general, but it is good enough for all
golfers to play. As it is located near the center of Bangkok and playing
fee is attractive for players, many people want to play on weekends. It
is necessary to reserve your tee-off time in advance.
Royal Thai Army G.C. is one of the famous good courses with the long history
more than 20 years in Thailand. The facilities is developed for army officers
to promote their sport lives, but the public also can play. In the course,
there are many big trees which separate the hold and hole. It is very
difficult to reserve a tee-off time on weekends as many people want to
play here.
The Unico Golf Course has been known for a long time as a private public
course in Bangkok. It is located next to Krungthep Kreetha Sports Club
on Krungthep Kreetha road. The course layout is enough attractive for
golfers to play, but the maintenance is poor to enjoy golf. Really its
good location in Bangkok enables golfers to play much more if the course
is kept in good condition.
